The Costa Rica's Central Bank Museums offers several attractions for the visitor in the same place. The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum has an extraordinary collection of objects in gold that reflect the world vision, social structure and metallurgy of Costa Rican pre-Columbian people.

The Central Bank MuseumThe exhibition shows the use, function, and technology of the pieces as well as their connection to nature and the daily life of these human groups. The unique Museum is another option for its nature, location, and redesign merit the development of new services, which cater to the necessities of its visitors. The collection is made up of 1600 pieces of pre-Columbian gold which date from 500 BC to 1500 AC.

It is a tourist attraction of historical nature, allowing the visitor a glimpse of the past and the present as well as those ongoing traditions. Currently under exhibit are pre-Columbian gold, ceramic and stone pieces. There are among the objects ornamental, pectorals, ritual objects, tools and devices that were used daily.

We are one of the 4 gold museums worldwide. The others are located in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. The Numismatic Museum consists in a extraordinary collection of bills, coins, coffee pay vouchers, printing presses, financial documentation, art, photographs and others.

Some of these objects date back to the 1500's. The Visual Art Gallery is comprised of two spaces designed for temporary exhibits. It offers the visitor an opportunity to experience the dynamic program of exhibitions pertaining to Costa Rica's visual arts. The Educational Department compliments each and every activity of the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum.

Guided tours for elementary and high school students are offered year round as a complementary tool to school programs. And also the Museum Shop is an important option for both national and international tourists since it allows for the acquisition of brooks and handcrafts pertaining to the areas in which the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum of Costa Rica operates.
