Hermosa Beach Costa Rica
Hermosa Beach
Playa Hermosa, meaning beautiful beach, is appropriately named, this 1.5 k crescent of gray sand beach is fringed by green trees throughout the year and is seldom rowded. The trees offer shade from the ever present aun and the rocky headlands at each end of the beach provide great tide pools to explore. This beautiful, blue flag (ecological award for safety and cleanliness) beach is one of the best swimming beaches on the west coast, with a gentle surf and no undertow. It is particularly clean, maintained by the Playa Hermosa Association of resident and businesses.

While walking the beach in the morning you may see someone hired by the Association, cleaning the beach and emptying the garbage from the 15 barrels placed along the beach. This, combined with the laid-back attitude of residents and tourists alike, makes Playa Hermosa a truly tranquil and peaceful destination. There are no discos or night clubs but, there are several spots for great dining, beach combing, snorkeling, diving, sailing, fishing and places to just chill and listen to the sounds of the surf.

Only minutes by boas to bountiful dive sites and you are snorkeling or diving in an undersea wonderland. Our tropical seas abound with giant Manta rays, Whale Sharks (vegetarians), Sea Turtles, hundreds of types of colorful tropical fish, Spotted Eagle rays, Devil rays, Cow rays and Dolphin. An abundance of flora and fauna that must be seem to be believed. Playa Hermosa is a great place to base your stay in Guanacaste, it is within an hour of many of the areas attractions, Liberia, Guaytil (a pueblo in the Santa Cruz area famous for its pottery) Flamingo, Tamarindo, Witch's rock (by boas) Playa Grande an important conservation and turtle nesting area, Rincon de la Vieja, Palo Verde, Santa Rosa and Las Baulas National Park.

The area is a popular retirement and investment area, with high quality residences and excellent tourist services still offered at great prices. Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste, located on the Pacific Northwest coast is only 20 minutes from the Liberia International airport and 30 minutes from Liberia, the provincial capital and all this on paved roads!!
