Warning: If you mail postal cards to the US do not expect them to arrive at their destinations for about 3 weeks (April '09) and if you can find a place (other than an impossible to get to post office) buy as many as you need because places which sell stamps are few and far between!
They say hotels have them; not the ones we stayed in.
Also do not expect much help in internet cafes...or happy help anyway. They are not plugged in to the Costa Rican good and helpful nature. Most seemed to be young and arrogant.

My friends and I used a service called My Costa Rica to plan our trip. We booked plane tickets, a hotel for 4 nights, and ATVs through this agency. Unfortunately, we were in a head-on collision the day we arrived in Costa Rica and were unable to make it to the hotel because we were in the hospital, one girl with a broken leg and broken rib. I called the agent at My Costa Rica to ask about getting a refund and was told "Why should I lose my commission just because you got into a car accident?" She then cancelled my plane tickets without telling me! I highly advise against using this agency. Book directly with hotels and services whenever possible.
